Samuel Langhorne Clemens, known by the pseudonym Mark Twain (1835-1910) was born in Florida, Missouri. His fame rests mainly on two novels: The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. His other important works include The Prince and the Pauper, The Tragedy of Pudd’nhead Wilson, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court, and a travel book Following the Equator. He is often regarded as the greatest humorist the United States has ever produced, and William Faulkner called him the father of American literature
