Jules Verne (1828-1905), a French writer most known for his creative adventure tales that frequently featured futuristic technology, can legitimately be referred to as the founder of the Science Fiction literary subgenre. His works enjoyed enormous popularity during his lifetime. Adults and children still like them alike. The most well-known of his works are Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864), From the Earth to the Moon (1865), Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Seas (1870), and Around the World in Eighty Days (1872).
Bhaskar Roy, born on August 21, 1951, is a renowned reteller of European classics. He graduated with First Class Honours in Physics from Cotton College, Guwahati in 1970 and has made significant contributions in various fields. He is a national scholar, has directed documentaries translated scientific texts, and taught French at Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture in Golpark. Furthermore, he has translated Bengali classics into English and adapted European classics for children and young adults.
