Jules Verne (1828-1905), a French writer most known for his creative adventure tales that frequently featured futuristic technology, can legitimately be referred to as the founder of the Science Fiction literary subgenre. His works enjoyed enormous popularity during his lifetime. Adults and children still like them alike. The most well-known of his works are Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864), From the Earth to the Moon (1865), Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Seas (1870), and Around the World in Eighty Days (1872).
